Liberalization has changed all that and given India more exposure internationally.''Indian Youth and Indian Politics – is a topic which shows the two opposite sides of the same coin (India). Politicians and leaders do talk and roar on and about Indian Youth. Politicians never torched inside the hearts of Indian Youth and they blame them on every occasion jumping over the so-called ‘western culture’ issue. Counter reply to such muddy politicians is that they do not live in the current India but some old jungle civilization who are so much involved in corruption that their prime intension of coming into politics is corruption and nothing else.

Moreover, the young population of country can always have fresh ideas to discard a certain problem. it is true to a certain extent that with age comes experience, and that has been well established by the likes of our very own PM, Mr. Manmohan Singh, who has an excellent academic knowledge and experience to lead India, but also the likes of B School graduates like Sachin Pilot, Milind deora along with Rahul Gandhi, Omar Abdullah.let me not forget the organiser Mr Krishna Byre Gowda KPYCC President are also 1 among those adding life and a fresh set of ideas to the decision making bodies. they possess an immense untapped power which can definitely play a vital role in changing da whole scenario. Youth can definitely utilise dis power if wants 2 do so.

Now the most imp and major issue with youngsters joining politics is that its just a dream. it can only happen in movies like YUVA and RDB. We tend to choose safer and secure options like becoming an Engineer, or a doctor or do MBA... We wud think a million times before joining this so called pig fight named politics... Y? no one wants to clean the country by getting dirty.

The current notion about politics is that it is alternative job to retired dacoits, flop film-actors and bored housewives. Sitting in the corner and critisizing the contamination of corrupt leaders will not make and difference between us and those leaders. So to revive the current System it’s we the “Youth” who needs to step in the system and change it for better, So that our next generation do not have same-things to say in this kind of discussion.
The Lead India campaign stemmed from our belief .India is to overcome many hurdles that threaten to slow its journey to developed nation status. Citizens from all over the country were invited to use the Lead India programme as a springboard to public life.Applications flooded in with over 34,000 valid applications from all over India. Finally, after many highs and lows,Our own Rajendra Misra (Bangalore).

India's youth are already having an enormous impact: on the economy, on the media, and on the culture. Unlike previous generations, today's youth are not obsessed with the ins and outs of politics. They enjoy wearing saris and still admire Mahatma Gandhi. But they also like wearing blue jeans, drinking fizzy sodas, and watching MTV.

This generational shift in attitudes is all the more important because this group is growing so rapidly. Some 47% of India's current 1 billion population is under the age of 20, and teenagers among them number about 160 million. Already, they wield $2.8 billion worth of discretionary income, and their families spend an additional $3.7 billion on them every year. By 2015, Indians under 20 will make up 55% of the population--and wield proportionately higher spending power. ''This is the generation that is reclaiming India's future,'' says Gurcharan Das, a former chief executive of Procter & Gamble Co. ''This is India's 'found' generation.''
Bharat Uday Mission is one outfit of IITians who are planning to enter in politics at a certain point of time. Though I have not seen their latest activities, whatever they did was very systematic and giving boost for young ones to participate in politics.
Some 22 million belong to the urban middle class and are in a position to influence the economy dramatically as they grow older. In addition, massive computer literacy could do plenty for India's economy. National per capita income is currently $450 per year. But a 10% increase in computer literacy in a single year would push per capita income up to $650, according to Dewang Mehta of Nasscom .
The World Bank’s World Development Report, 2007. says
The percentage of youth (the 18-24 age group) ‘very’ interested in politics in India rose from around 35 per cent in 1990 to around 50 per cent in 2000.While interest levels are on the rise in China, India and Nigeria (grouped as low-income countries), they show a declining trend in Finland, Slovenia and the United Kingdom (high income countries).Participation levels also vary with age, with interest levels declining as age increases in the lower income countries. While 46.3 per cent of people in the 18-29 age group in India were interested in politics, the percentage declines to 40.5 per cent in the 65+ age group. It’s just the reverse in the higher income countries. In the United States, for example, 58.5 per cent of the 18-29 age group were interested in politics; the percentage increased to 83.5 per cent in the 65+ age group.

Youth should be given adequate representation in politics, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi said on Saturday, second day of his “Discovery of India” journey in Orissa.
President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam exhorted the youth to take up politics as a career in large numbers. ``Political science should form part of the curriculum for all students with development politics as the focus. ``There are many more important tasks like making education accessible to every citizen, uplifting citizens below the poverty level through a focussed mission and accelerating agriculture reforms. In the same way, there can be a movement in the judiciary for time-bound clearance of pending cases in district courts and high courts within the next three years. Judiciary should ensure that the common citizen gets speedy justice.
police stations should be electronically connected and they [policemen] should be empowered with better quality of life, like proper housing, medical cover and children's education. He also called for proper representation of women in all decision-making institutions such as the Panchayat system.
``Ambience in 2020,'' -achieve 100 per cent literacy, near zero number of people below poverty line, tele-density of 75 per cent, quality power supply to all villages. In another 13 years, India would have a global presence in strategic sectors and contribute to world peace. ``To achieve these goals, a national movement for development is essential. In this movement, every citizen, every constituent of our democracy, has to participate.''

India’s finance minister P Chidambaram said “my vision is to get 85% of India into cities”.UPA government did not invent poverty nor can we say that pre 2004 this was a land of milk and honey and poverty has hit us only today. clearly things are getting better per capita incomes have risen, fewer children are out of school, drop out rates are decreasing, more jobs are being created. And so our policies are clearly pro growth and pro equity.
One of the most reasons for the rot is the fresh blood is not infused into politics.
Todays youth have become slaves of the technological revolution,as the only thing on their mind is lucrative career. Their non involvement in the nation building by being politically non active has brought in many corrupt elements into the political arena. This has deprived thousands of villagers to be the right part in the economic development of the country. So do you think there is any-other challenging job better than this? It is a challenge to us, and the youth should be prepared to face it, rather than ignoring it.
As Albert Einstein once said “not everything that can be counted counts,
and everything that counts cannot be counted.”

A state of total panic at Indian market

My mom told me the other day, that “just one drop of mustard oil for cooking and not dream of having any special dishes in the weekends/ of having meat and fish anymore”.
An old Chinese proverb- “crisis is opportunity”.
The middle and upper-middle class honeymoon with a blooming economy is coming to an end; the reason behind all this being the panic at the market’s coming overall growth of the economy slows down.
The stock market has already pressed the panic button – sensex and nifty reading their lowest levels in 2008.
As poor and middle class consumers are discovering every day, inflation is the most that hurts them all the most.
Already he is feeling the pinch, be it in the high price of food commodities, transport, electronics and other essential/ daily needs.
Inflation is the sustained rise in the general price level as a result of an increase in demand without a corresponding increase in supply.
The only consolation is India is not alone in its suffering. Other emerging markets in Asia have been hit equally hard. Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Vietnam and Indonesia too, has inflation in some cases even higher than India.
What has caused the inflation?
Ø Phenomenal rise of worldwide oil prices.
Ø Foreign investment in real estate.
Ø Food situation.
Ø Steel prices have raised leading to speculation in commodities.
Ø Poor Infrastructure.
There are no easy answers. Many inflation watchers started perhaps by the double digit figure say that we must live with high prices all through the year and that is the least we can expect.
The current inflation is imported and fuelled by speculation. Rich countries are exporting inflation to us. They no longer wish to invest their money in manufacturing assets. That work has been out sourced to china, India and other countries. Their idle funds are being used for speculation and for investing in commodities. We cannot fight such imported inflation by increasing domestic interest rates or reducing domestic money supply while giving a free run to foreign money supply. That would result in stagnation of economy.
For middle class consumers, double digit inflation is a time for serious belt- tightening along with better financial planning.
For the middle class, this is a time to do some financial planning try and pay off expensive loans for durables, to cushion the rise in home loan interest rates if possible they should partially prove pay home loans as well. A fixed deposit that yields an interest 8.5 to 9 percent annually is of no use when inflation rate is over 10 percent.
Remember, just as good times don’t last forever, bad times come to an end as well.

daya .....the karunae

<img style="FLOAT: left; Opinions were being expressed in print and television that Salman received a harsh punishment of five years jail sentence due to his celebrity status. It may be recalled that even during the period when hunting was legal – use of wheeled vehicle and spotlights to blind the hunted species was prohibited.
The judgment delivered on April 10, 2006 by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jodhpur makes for interesting reading. The Court convicted Salman Khan of hunting Chinkara and co-accused Goverdhan for abetting the offence and gave a detailed and well reasoned Judgment of 110 pages in Hindi. Given below is an overview of this lengthy judgment by our advocates. Full english translation of this judgment follows the overview.
In presenting its case to the Court, prosecution examined 38 witnesses including Harish Dulani (the driver), Lalit Boda, Ashok Patani, the Investigating Officer of this case and other witnesses. In addition to deposition by witnesses, other direct and indirect evidences and chain of circumstances eventually favored the prosecution.
On January 24, 2002 Harish Dulani appeared in the Court and gave an eyewitness account of the incident. According to this witness, on September 28, 1998 Salman shot a Chinkara from his vehicle, came down and slit the throat of the animal with a knife. The Court found sufficient evidence against accused Salman Khan and Goverdhan Singh from the facts revealed by Harish Dulani. The statement of the witness was later confirmed by other witnesses. Recovery of evidences as well as spot identification was carried out by the investigating team. Although, the testimony of Harish Dulani was no doubt integral to the conviction of Salman Khan, there are other evidences that were relied upon by the prosecution in strengthening their case against Salman Khan and the co-accused.
The case took an interesting turn when in the year 2002 Harish Dulani became untraceable and summons and bailable warrants were issued against him on number of occasions. Prosecution made all possible efforts to procure the presence of this witness. It is relevant to mention here that Harish Dulani himself filed an application in the Court, in addition to submitting applications to Additional S. P, Inspector General of Police and Home Minister about threats received by him from Salman Khan and his associates. On April 07, 2006, three days before this judgment, accused Salman Khan filed an application for recalling Harish Dulani. With this application, a photocopy of the documents linked to the properties sold by Harish Dulani to a third person was also annexed. The fact that the photocopy of the said documents reached into the hands of accused Salman Khan one day after the alleged television interview of Harish Dulani and his subsequent retraction of statements made in the interview, assisted the Court to establish this argument of apprehension to be correct as forwarded by the prosecution and that he had been under the custody and influence of accused Salman Khan. The Court accepted the evidence of Harish Dulani as admissible under Section 33 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 and directed that he should be tried for perjury.
The Court, while delivering its Judgment took into account the following facts relied upon by the Prosecution:
The accused Salman Khan stayed in Ummed Bhavan (Palace Hotel),
He drove in an open top vehicle, armed with deadly weapons on the night of the incident and reached the place of occurrence,
Discovery of hair / blood of the animal from the vehicle and the place of incident.
Recovery of weapons, pellets and cartridges from various locations,
Deposition by Shivchand, a witness to the weapons brought by Udai Raghavan from Mumbai residence of Salman Khan and surrendering these to the Investigating Officer.
The surrendered knife by Sohail Khan brother of Salman Khan to the investigating officer Ashok Patani which was allegedly used for killing the Chinkara.
Seized weapons found fit for firing and also the fact that it was used earlier.
These recoveries and other evidences established the fact that the accused indeed went with the intention of hunting the deer.
These circumstances as per the prosecution account helped in strengthening the case which included oral and documentary evidences provided by the prosecution. In addition, the place of occurrence and the identification of the crime scene confirmed by the witnesses and the accused gave further impetus to the case.
The Court also observed that in the prosecution account, at times the word ‘deer’ and elsewhere the word ‘Chinkara’has been used, however, this view was clarified in later part of the Judgment when the F. S. L. Serological examination found Chinkara blood stained earth from the site of hunting and skinning.
While convicting Salman Khan, the Court took into account his argument that merely by virtue of the accused being popular, it is inappropriate to consider this status as discrimination in the society. The Court fully endorsed its conformity with this argument and held to the effect that the principal of equality before law is applicable to the extent of conviction. However, the question of the quantum of sentence was a different aspect. Accused Salman Khan had not committed this offence under any compulsion or to satisfy his hunger but in fact committed the offence to prove his prowess and superiority. Hence, any argument of principal of equality is not sustainable with regard to the quantum of sentence. Also the fact that the accused is already convicted in another case and a different case pending against him, the Court did not consider it proper to adopt a lenient stance keeping in view the entire facts, circumstances of the case, character and conduct of the accused.
Disclaimer
While interpretating / translating this judgment from its original Hindi version, utmost care has been taken to retain the original facts.
